Training Week at CRE Technology

Our certified training courses may be fully covered by your OPCO for French clients.

This quality certification was awarded in recognition of the training programs.

Objectives

After this training, you will be able to:

  1. 1/ Understanding how a genset works: power generation, regulation and voltage regulation, synchronization between sources

2/ Choosing the right architecture for your installation: stand-alone genset, multi-generator system, mains backup, power plant with solar PV and storage

3/ Configuring your controllers from A to Zwith the software i4Gen Suitesoftware: genset configuration, electrical protections, communications, operating thresholds

4/ Commission your installations independently: starting, synchronization, paralleling and load transfer

5/ Diagnose and resolve faults: read alarms, trace causes, and apply appropriate corrections

6/ Create your own automation systems with Easy Flex®: program custom logic directly into the controllers to meet the specific requirements of each site

Program

Your training week

Five days to cover everything from the basics of gensets to the commissioning of a complete power plant (solar PV, battery storage, and grid). The final day is dedicated to advanced programming with Easy Flex®. Each day alternates between theory and hands-on practice using actual equipment.

Theory: How a genset produces electricity, how to maintain stable voltage and frequency, and how to synchronize and parallel sources. Common installation configurations: stand-alone genset, multi-genset, mains backup, and permanent paralleling.

Practical Guide: Getting started with the Compact controller series and the i4Gen Suite software: connection, navigation, viewing measurements and alarms. Introduction to thei4Gen Box for remote monitoring of your facilities.

By the end of the session, you’ll know:

  • Explain how a genset works and the principles of synchronization
  • Choose the right controller your system architecture
  • Navigate through i4Gen Suite and view the status of your equipment

Theory: Complete configuration of a controller generator set specifications, regulation , electrical protections, automatic start and stop based on load.

Practical Training: Commissioning of power plant : automatic grid backup with switchover in the event of a power outage, paralleling multiple generators, and operation in conjunction with the grid. Fault simulation and diagnostics: you will learn to identify the cause of faults and correct them.

By the end of the session, you’ll know:

  • Fully configure a controller i4Gen Suite
  • Set up a network backup and paralleling operation
  • Diagnosing a fault on alarms and logs

Theory: What changes when you integrate photovoltaics and battery storage into your power plant. The role of the inverter, the difference between grid-forming (the inverter creates the grid) and grid-following (the inverter follows the grid). Common hybrid architectures and stability constraints to be aware of.

Practical Guide: Getting Started with Hybrid Controllers, HYBRID COMPACT for photovoltaics, BAT COMPACT for batteries. Communication with inverters via Modbus. On the power plant : real-time monitoring of power flows between generators, PV, battery, and grid.

By the end of the session, you’ll know:

  • Explain the differences between a power plant and a conventional one
  • Identify the controllers and protocols required for a hybrid architecture
  • Read and interpret the power flows between your various sources

Theory: Advanced configuration of hybrid controllers: limiting injected power, battery storage management, and starting and stopping generators based on renewable energy production.

Practical: Implementation of comprehensive hybrid scenarios on the power plant ; generator + solar power in an off-grid setup, connection to the grid with export limitation, and integration of battery storage. Followed by simulation of degraded conditions (loss of solar power, grid outage, empty battery) to learn how to respond.

By the end of the session, you’ll know:

  • Configure and commission a power plant
  • Analyze system behavior under normal and degraded operating conditions
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues specific to hybrid systems

Theory: Easy Flex®, the programming language integrated into all controllers in the COMPACT range. Variables, operators, conditions, custom functions, and timers. Advanced Modbus communication and schedule programming to plan automatic actions.

Practical: Step-by-step program creation in the i4Gen Suite graphical editor: custom alarms, conditional starts, data exchange between devices. Real-time debugging. summary exercises summary on actual customer requests.

By the end of the session, you’ll know:

  • Create your Easy Flex® programs in the graphical editor
  • Use variables, conditions, and delays to automate your installations
  • Exchange data with third-party devices via Modbus
  • Debugging a program in real time
