Generator battery chargers

Discover CRE Technology's range of generator battery chargers, designed to keep starting batteries reliably charged and ready for backup power applications on diesel or gas powered generator sets. Designed for industrial use and suitable for standard TS-35 cabinets, these chargers are easy to integrate thanks to DIN-rail mounting, convection cooling, and clear status signaling. They support smart preventive maintenance by maintaining the correct float level and reporting abnormal conditions to the control panel, helping operators avoid failed starts in critical sites.

Beyond simply charging, the unit acts as a battery maintainer to help the battery hold a charge over long standby periods. This is ideal for applications where availability matters most—data centers, hospitals, telecom shelters, and any installation where reliable starting power is essential.

Why install a generator battery charger on a genset?

Even a healthy lead-acid (or NiCd) battery gradually loses capacity when idle. A dedicated charger completes the charging process after starts and keeps the battery at the recommended float voltage, minimizing sulphation risk and improving start reliability. In real installations, supply conditions can vary and enclosures can run warm; CRE Technology provides installation and derating guidance so your generator starting system remains stable and dependable across a variety of configurations and AC power supplies.

Key features

Charging stages (Float + optional Boost)

Standard models provide regulated float charging; recommended float/boost values are provided for common battery technologies. The BPRB range adds a Boost mode (triggerable externally) to restore capacity faster when needed.

Advanced protections for safety and reliability

Depending on the range, protections cover short circuit conditions, current limiting and thermal protection. This supports long-term reliability and helps preserve battery life.

Remote signaling to the genset controller

A DC OK / FAULT relay contact gives a clear alarm interface to your controller or PLC, enabling proactive maintenance and faster troubleshooting.

Cabinet installation guidelines

Mount vertically with specified clearances for cooling, and follow the recommended wiring approach: set the output voltage first, then connect the charger to the battery by wiring the positive terminal and negative terminal correctly. External fuse and diode recommendations are provided to avoid reverse power and protect equipment.

Efficiency and thermal behavior

High efficiency reduces cabinet heat and improves overall reliability, especially in compact enclosures.

Industrial-grade quality

Industrial quality design targets harsh environments (integration in electrical panels, vibration/EMC considerations and clear installation guidance), supporting dependable long-term operation.

Choosing the right model

A practical rule from the technical guidance is: charging current (A) ≈ battery capacity (Ah) / 10. Selection tables available in our operator manual help you choose the perfect fit for common 12 V / 24 V capacities, plus guidance for parallel/series use when required. This helps you understand the selection logic and specify a charger that matches your installation constraints.
