The 4 backup generators power plant allows a common bus paralleling and a mains paralleling via a MASTER 2.0. The sensitivity of the site requires maximum redundancy and reliability, so the power plant includes:
- LV or HV operation
- Wattmetric management
- Automatic start/stop sequence depending on load
- Protections inhibition
In addition to all these functions, it is essential to minimize the blackout delays after a mains failure. Indeed, when the generator receives the start request, conventional starting and synchronization delay can sometimes reach several minutes, which is not acceptable in a hospital application. In order to provide an adapted solution and to allow the power plant to deliver its full power within a short delay, CRE TECHNOLOGY has developed a solution that is standard on all its paralleling products in the GENSYS 2.0 range: static paralleling.
Our solution
Static paralleling aims at getting all the generators of the power plant synchronized and ready to provide full power within a short delay (less than 10s), the method to achieve this function is a startup synchronization with a common excitation ramp when all engines are closed on the busbar and running at a nominal speed.
Test validation
During the customer acceptance, paralleling synchronization was performed within a 7s delay during several tests. This solution has proved its worth on many sensitive installations such as hospitals or industrial sites of the Seveso type.
More than the rapidity of the synchronization, static paralleling can provide the magnetization of step up transformers which allows the use of smaller power cable sections, it represents a significant cost savings.
This feature is also available on a single group to magnetize the step-up transformer, or on a MASTER 2.0 to magnetize the site's HV components.
